What you need to know for
your First USPSA Match

Thinking about coming out to SCAPSA to shoot your first USPSA match?

For most matches, we shoot 4 to 5 stages which can require up to 160 rounds of ammo (if you don’t miss) but you will need to bring a few other things:

  • Gun
  • Belt
  • Holster
  • Ammo
  • Safety Equipment

During all matches, we use the USPSA rule set for safety and gun handling. The safety rules are easy to follow and allow us to have a lot of fun at the same time.

With so many different types of guns available today, there is more than likely a division that will work well with your gun and equipment. Make sure to try a couple different divisions to find out what you like the most!

The SCAPSA range is just south of St. Cloud, Minnesota and you will want to use 19400 Estes Rd, Clearwater, MN 55320 for driving directions. Registration can be found inside the north side of the shed about 30 minutes before shooting starts.

It is suggested to show up at least 1 hour before matches. That will often give you enough time to scout out stages quickly, get registered, and loaded up before the shooters meeting. Times in the calendar will reflect when shooting starts with a shooters meeting taking place 5-10 minutes before hand.

If you take a look around at all the other competitors at the range, they all had a first time too. We have asked a few of our experienced members what are some of their top tips to help get you through your first match!
